Hi Everyone,

I’m called Coco by the little people in my life. It was bestowed on me long ago and it stuck, so I’ve embraced it, just like I have this new chapter in my life.

Oh boy! My first blog.

I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing when it comes to the tools of technology. At sixty-two years of age, my biggest imprint on the world has been mostly the posting of my grand kids photos and cute quips on Facebook. As far as Instagram and Twitter, I literally YouTube’d how to use the darn things effectively. Seriously, true confession, but just being honest…I feel like I’ve been handed the keys to a car with a manual transmission and told to drive.

What? Wait! NO! I don’t know how to drive a stick shift.

But I drive, slowly, with lots of stops, and starts, and stalls. But I drive. It ain’t pretty, but it’s a beginning. Very much like my journey of writing “Bird.” I’m incredibly thrilled to have completed a story that’s been rattling around in my brain for eons.

At the same time, I’m terrified by all the new learning needed to bring “Bird” into the homes of those who love a good story. So here I am, at the end of my first blog, and for what it’s worth, I have three takeaways I would like to share.

First, I don’t care how cliche’ it is, you can learn new things at any age, and yes, it will scare the hell out of you, but it’s worth it.

Second, trust yourself. No other single person on the planet knows you better than you do.

Third, close your eyes and jump into your passions. It’s a free fall that will make your heart flutter, your pulse race, and give you a healthy high.
