If there was ever a year that we needed holiday cheer, it’s this one. We’ve been so limited on what we can actually go out and do, but there is a simple thing that can bring a holiday smile on the ones you hold near and dear. SEND THEM A CARD! Whatever holiday you celebrate, whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, there is nothing more special than to see a personal card delivered in the mail with your name on it. You immediately feel brighter, eager to rush in and open it. It’s a little gift that I truly believe activates the brain and releases endorphins and oxytocin. The chemicals that take us to our happy place!
I have a confession, I have kept every single solitary holiday card I have ever received. Honest to goodness I have. You know why? There are several reasons. First, there is something really special about someone taking the time to send a card. They are magical to me. Second, they always reflect the personality of the person sending it, a tiny window into who they are and what’s important to them. Third, it helps me if I forget address because I keep the envelop too.
It’s a small gesture that’s truly a big deal. So my challenge to all of you, send a card to those you love. Let’s bring back some of the nostalgia and joy that we’ve known and treasured for so many years. This year we need more LOVE, more KINDNESS, more JOY!
Now go find your pen and get your address book. You’ve got cards to write!
