Blessings! Count your blessings. Ah, it must be Thanksgiving. THE reminder to be grateful for life’s gifts. It’s like a satellite, swinging back around earth’s orbit come early November. You can’t NOT see it. It’s written on napkins, plates, place mats, and folksy wall hangings from Kirkland’s and Target. It’s everywhere, reminding us of the importance of love for family, friends, and each other. So why do things feel different right now? Why does it seem like a message that’s lost its’ meaning. Believe me, I don’t want to dampen spirits for the holidays, but there is something different in the air. We talk of kindness, love, compassion. We talk of faith, hope, the promise of a better tomorrow. But we as a country are not really practicing those things. We demonize those who may not look like us, think like us, believe like us. Empathy, open-mindedness, and compromise, are seen as weakness. So, I’m going to keep this short. Blessings are for everyone, not just for some of us. I send blessings to everyone. Heartfelt blessings of love and joy, peace and happiness to everyone. Even for those I may not agree with, or share their vision of this world. I send you blessing from my heart to yours. May you be blessed by all the wonders of life. You are one of them! Happy Thanksgiving.
